Explaining our Design Process

Getting to know each other:

We kick things off by meeting with you either online or face to face.

The process of conceptualising a brand and/or packaging design for our customers begins with understanding your needs. We take the time to get to know you, your company, your values, and the message you want to communicate with your branding and packaging or graphic design. We arrange a time with our clients to go through the project and delve a little deeper into the company to understand target markets, as well as goals and objectives. Once we have a thorough understanding of your customer’s needs, we can begin to brainstorm ideas. We like to work closely with our clients to develop creative concepts that capture their vision and reflect the values of their brand.

Research & Development Phase:

Once we know you are happy with the outcome of the initial consultation we get to work! We gather creative inspiration and do all the research we need to fully understand the world your business operates in, to ensure a focussed approach. We research our clients’ competitors and industry trends to ensure that the brand and packaging design will stand out within its marketplace as well as have a good market fit. It is one thing to stand out, but it is equally important to be part of the market by concentrating and focussing on your target consumer. It is important during this stage to gather all the information we need to make an informed decision as to the materials and substrates to be used when in production. This is to accurately plan out the design to be fit for purpose upon sign off. This could include the cutter guides, or the print techniques required for the final materials.

We also consider the materials and printing processes that will be used to create the packaging, ensuring that the design is practical and cost-effective. All these factors may dictate what can and can’t be done during the design phase.

Ideas and Concept Development Phase:

From our research findings we then begin working on your exciting new concepts. We put pen to paper beginning with a wide range of ideas before we choose a select few to develop further into solid working concepts. We use both sketching and digital tools to visually explore concepts or initial designs and bring them to life. At this stage, we begin to focus on the details of the design developing elements such as the logo, colour palette, typography, and imagery that will be used in the design project. Throughout the process, we work closely with you to ensure that the design meets your customers’ needs and reflects your vision. Our goal is to create a unique and memorable brand and packaging design that captures the essence of your company and stands out in the marketplace. Once the digital sketches and compositions are approved, we create a detailed design layout. This involves making sure that all elements in the design are appropriately spaced, aligned, and properly arranged. We also pay attention to the chosen colours and fonts to ensure that they are consistent throughout. Our team then works to ensure that all elements in the design are properly sized and scaled, and that all artwork is set up for scalability. We adjust the artboard settings for the final output and make sure the design is appropriate for the packaging materials.

This process begins with us gaining an understanding of the product, the target market, and the desired outcome of the design. We will then develop a concept for the packaging or branding design, considering the needs of the product, the target market, and the desired outcome that will include a design layout and the materials that will be used. Once the concept is approved by our client, we will begin the development design process.

Feedback and Further Development:

Once we have initial concepts we like to meet again via online or in person to discuss your thoughts and perhaps the thoughts of focus groups or colleagues.

We take on board your feedback developing your chosen concept or concepts further. The next step involves creating mock-ups of the design in a 3D environment. This allows us to visualise the design from different angles and make any necessary adjustments. We also use this step to evaluate the design’s printing requirements, ensuring that the colours are accurately reproduced. During this stage we review the design thoroughly to make sure it meets our client’s expectations. By following a careful and detailed process, our team can create designs that are visually appealing, focussing on the importance of standing out. We create designs that capture the customer’s attention and strive to create an exceptional product that our clients can be proud of.

The Final Solution:

With the final concept chosen we fine tune it to ensure you are 100% happy with the result. Once the design is complete, we create detailed specifications and mock-ups to present to you to help with the visualisation of ideas and bring about the ideas in a realistic true to life form. This allows us to assess the design in 3D and make any necessary changes before production. We also provide the customer with a comprehensive brand guide that outlines the parameters of the design, such as colour codes and typography, to ensure consistency across all applications. Our brand guidelines are also a helpful way to keep your brand in check when working with others throughout your business. Once the initial design layout is approved by our client, we move on to the production phase. We use the latest software and tools to create the design files that will be used for printing.

Sign off and Production:

Your final design is complete, and we provide you with all the relevant files you will need going forward. Where needed we will arrange for final artwork to be sent off for production or can help work with your manufacturers during this phase. Once the design is approved, we can begin the manufacturing process. This includes selecting and ordering the materials, creating prototypes, and testing the prototypes.

You may wish for us to be involved in the printing of the packaging or graphic design goods. Once the product or packaging has been manufactured if we have produced the print through ourselves, we will arrange delivery of the product. This may involve working with shipping companies or other third-party providers.

Whether we are entrusted to handle the manufacture, or the production is produced by yourselves we take extra care to ensure that the design is produced correctly and according to the signed off artwork specifications. We also pride ourselves on providing ongoing support to our clients.

We can help make updates to your packaging or create branded supportive marketing artwork. We have an ongoing long term monthly payment model that allows our clients to work with us over time closely creating a coherent and powerful brand execution across all platforms even through social media design.
